Funded Workshops at Wardsend Cemetery Heritage Park with Rooted in Talk

Working in partnership with National Grid, Friends of Wardsend Cemetery and Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust, Rooted in Talk is thrilled to be able to offer a limited number of funded workshops to schools and organisations in the local area.

Workshops will typically take place in the Cemetery park and can be tailored to your needs. Through a dialogic approach and creative opportunities, the workshops encourage groups to explore and engage with the historical and natural heritage on site to establish connections with nature and develop confidence in accessing local heritage.

 What do workshops involve?

Workshops are typically a minimum of 2 hours. Each workshop is developed using the guiding principles of observe, think, talk and create.

 Observe

Groups are encouraged to engage with the natural space around them using all of their senses to discover details.

Think

Groups are given time to notice and gather their thoughts from historical stories, archival research and connections with nature.

Talk

Dialogue is a key element of Rooted in Talk workshops. Through talk, groups will explore concepts, ask questions and delve into philosophical enquiry.

Create

Workshops always involve responding in a creative way. Examples of this may include mono-printing, collaging, zine making, or preparing digital or print exhibits.

Meghan Tipping is the passionate freelance educator, historian and author behind the organisation Rooted in Talk.
