Meghan Tipping, Rooted in Talk

Meghan is the passionate freelance educator, historian and author behind the organisation Rooted in Talk. She offers learning experiences that connect young people with their local heritage and environment, developing understanding through dialogue and igniting a passion for self expression.
Meghan’s first degree was in History and she is a qualified teacher with 10 years experience in primary teaching and curriculum design. With a masters in Global History and trained to Level 3 in Philosophy for Children/Communities (P4C), Meghan has expanded her experience across various sites in Sheffield through funded heritage engagement projects. These include The National Lottery Heritage Fund project at Sheffield General Cemetery and a Species Survival Fund project at Shire Brook Valley Nature Reserve. She has recently co-authored a book on talk entitled Bringing Talk to Life: Thinking Through Dialogue in The Classroom.
Meghan uses a dialogue-based approach to develop and facilitate:
- creative projects and resources with and for young people
- connection with local historical and natural heritage
- community engagement through activities and events
Projects with Meghan provide a safe and collaborative environment with the aim of empowering young people to navigate the world with confidence, by encouraging the sharing of ideas, opinions, and experiences through talk and creativity.
