Sheffield Museums have a brilliant programme of creative family activities across their sites this summer! Scroll down for the programme and follow the link at the bottom for more info & to book.

Millennium Gallery | Suggested donation £3 | just drop in 12 – 3pm

Wed 22 Jul: Pride of Yorkshire: Enjoy an afternoon of roar-some crafts to celebrate the Pride of Yorkshire sculpture trail.

Wed 29 Jul: Make a Mascot: Every team needs its own mascot – have a go at designing yours!

Wed 15 Aug: Invent a Game: Create your very own beautiful game inspired Sheffield's football heritage.

Wed 12 Aug: Describing the Sky: Combine words and pictures in this collage and creative writing activity inspired by the exhibition The Ruskin Collection: Storm-Cloud.

Wed 19 Aug: Everyone’s a Winner! Use shiny materials, bold shapes, and cardboard construction to craft a unique creation that celebrates your winning spirit.

Sat 25 July:  Flower and Plant Hapa Zome Prints. Learn an ancient Japanese technique to create unique floral prints to take away with you

Sat 1 Aug:  Make Your Own Bird Feeder. Learn how to transform a Tetra Pak juice carton into a feeder, fit for the Hamlet’s feathered friends

Sat 8 Aug:  Pennant Parade Banners. Create your own textile fabric banner inspired by the Victorian history of the Hamlet and traditions of parade 

Sat 15 Aug:  Paper Making and Collaging Gift Cards. With guidance from our tutor, learn how to make papers as well as your own artwork from a selection of pre-made papers

Sat 22 Aug:  Glass Painting Coasters. In this practical session, you’ll use an array of colours, to create a unique design, to take away with you, all inspired by the history of the site

Sat 29 Aug: Textile Rag Wreaths. Learn how to turn fabric waste into a work of beauty and create and customise your own wreath through your choice of colours and patterns

Kelham Island Museum | Suggested donation £5, booking recommended | Thu 30 Jul, 11 – 4pm

This year, we’re doing something special at Kelham Island Museum to kickstart the school holidays. Join us for a host of drop-in activities, hands-on experiments and dazzling demonstrations in this family-friendly day of scientific adventure. This event is in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University.

Weston Park Museum | Suggested donation £3, just drop in | 12 – 3pm

Tue 28 Jul: Archaeology and Nature. Celebrate the Festival of Archaeology with Wessex Archaeology and explore all things nature-related!

Tue 4 Aug: Fabric Designs. Stencil, paint and draw on a selection of fabrics and learn about the history behind Sheffield’s local luxury textile company, Painted Fabrics Ltd.

Tue 11 Aug: The Future of Sheffield is... Explore old maps and paintings – then design, build and create a futuristic place perfect for the city.

Tue 18 Aug: Making Lantern Slide Specimens. Drawing inspiration from Henry Clifton Sorby's lantern slide specimens, create your own creatures using light, inks, and paper.
