Workshops for SEND pupils - Sheffield Museums

Sheffield Museums

What: Workshops for SEND pupils

When: To suit you

Where: At Sheffield Museums

Who: SEND pupils, all ages

Sheffield Museums currently offers a comprehensive package of school workshops across our six sites. They are happy to adapt all their workshops to accommodate SEND classes, but they have also created three new workshops specifically for SEND pupils at Weston Park Museum. The museum is fully accessible and has a Changing Places toilet.

Their three new workshops, ‘Animal Homes’, ‘What are toys made of?’ and ‘Print a Place’ have been created by a SEND specialist following consultation with special schools across South Yorkshire.

Each workshop is for up to 15 pupils and lasts for around 1.5 hours. They are based on the objectives of the Engagement Model and Pre-Key Stage Standards and have a skeleton plan with various adaptations for different SEND needs.

The workshops are available Tuesday to Friday during term time, but for a small extra charge, they are also available on selected Mondays when the museum is closed to visitors. This will enable pupils to have exclusive use of the museum and to explore spaces in their own ways, allowing schools groups to be comfortable in the knowledge that they are safe and welcome.

Each workshop is offered at the small class rate of £165 for Tuesday to Friday workshops. Monday workshops are £200 to cover the cost of extra staffing and overheads.
