One Voice Singing Festival - Sheffield Music Hub
Sheffield Music Hub
What: Singing Festival
When: Get in touch for upcoming dates
Where: City wide
Who: Primary schools across Sheffield.
Sheffield Music Hub’s One Voice Singing Festival is a city wide celebration of singing that brings primary schools together to perform as one large choir. One Voice gives children the chance to develop their singing skills, build confidence, work as a team and experience the excitement of performing alongside pupils from across Sheffield. Singing together helps children feel part of something bigger, while supporting musical learning, wellbeing and a sense of belonging.
Over the last two years, Sheffield Music Hub has also worked in partnership with The Linking Network and DECSY to embed School Linking within the festival experience. School Linking pairs schools together so that children can learn about one another, explore identity and similarities, and build friendships across different communities.
As part of One Voice, linked schools have shared songs, artwork, postcards and messages, took part in joint rehearsals and video calls, and then met in person to sing side by side as part of the massed One Voice choir.
Teachers told us that School Linking added real depth to the One Voice experience. Pupils gained confidence meeting new children, developed understanding and respect for others, and felt proud to stand together and sing as part of a city wide celebration. The combination of high quality singing and meaningful school partnerships helps children grow both musically and socially.
We are delighted to continue developing One Voice and School Linking together and to welcome more schools to be part of future festivals.
