Get in Touch:
Sam Groom is a Sheffield-based full-time artist printmaker and educator, with extensive experience running art and printmaking sessions for children from early years to post 16.
I really enjoy planning and delivering art & printmaking workshops for all children from primary school age upwards. I have an MA in Arts Education and over 12 years experience teaching art, design and textiles as a Secondary School teacher & HOD of Art, Design and Textiles. I am happy to work with large or smaller groups and I can develop a project to suit your chosen theme or topic. My approach to planning and delivering art & printmaking workshops is centred around the belief that art is a joyful and creative activity that encourages and fosters many important practical and transferable skills. This includes enhanced fine motor skills as well as the skills of careful observation, of considered questioning and reasoning, of exploring viewpoints, of comparison and connection. I encourage experimenting with materials, tools and techniques. Making art using a variety of approaches, using media to describe, to represent and to develop visual perception and literacy. My approach is always to encourage a playful and inquisitive attitude. To take risks, to problem solve and find acceptance and openness to creativity.
