Know Your Place Exhibition

Know Your Place Exhibition

When: Saturday 5 July 10:00 - Friday 8 August 17:00

Where: Sheffield Central Library

Schools across Sheffield have been exploring what makes our city special, how it has evolved, and what matters to them now.

Come and see their creative insights into Sheffield’s heritage and its lively neighbourhoods!

Heritage isn’t just history; it is much wider. Heritage is the relevance and impact of the past on us today.

Heritage explains who we are now, and why we are how we are now.

As part of Historic England’s Heritage Schools Programme, Create Sheffield, Sheffield Museums Trust, Wessex Archaeology, Manor Lodge, Sheffield Archives and the National Emergency Services Museum have taken a multi-partner approach to providing heritage training for Primary school teachers working in Sheffield.

The training consisted of five different days, each session building on the previous one, showing teachers how they can effectively use local heritage in the curriculum. Each session included a visit to a different heritage site across the city, including an exclusive tour of the excavations at Castlegate.

This exhibition is the result of work done back in the classroom with support from creative practitioners. The teachers wanted to explore who, what and where is important to their pupils. They then created fantastic artistic responses to share what they have discovered.

Their work will be exhibited throughout the Central Library building from 5th July - 8th August.

No tickets required.
