Hype Dance Company is a not-for-profit dance school in Shalesmoor, Sheffield, that has been bringing people together through dance since 2004. Its classes for children and young people start from age 3 and run mainly on Saturday mornings across Hype’s three studios, with some weekday after-school classes for older children. Styles include ballet, tap, modern jazz, acro, commercial, contemporary and musical theatre, with pointe for more experienced dancers. Many classes follow IDTA graded syllabuses, so dancers can work towards exams, and Hype’s competition teams offer extra challenge for those who want it.
Classes are friendly and inclusive, welcoming complete beginners and confident dancers alike, and help each child build skill, fitness and confidence at their own pace. Pupils also get the chance to perform in Hype’s shows throughout the year.
