The Montgomery Theatre and Arts Centre
The Montgomery (Monty) is the home of children’s & community theatre in Sheffield, founded in 1886 to champion young people & offer free arts education. The Monty became a theatre & arts centre in 1958, & aims to become Yorkshire's leading arts centre for children and young people.
We host professional theatre and cross art form shows for children, schools and families, and produce a growing participation programme including holiday clubs for children on free school meals, and a weekly young people's Company of Sanctuary hosted by SBC Theatre. We are also the performance venue for 70% of the city's community companies and dance schools.
Our offer to children and young people includes:
- Holiday clubs (theatre and cinema) for children on free school meals in half terms and school holidays
- Company of Sanctuary, for sanctuary-seeking families, every Saturday
- Regular shows and events for children and young people, families, and schools
- Showcasing and performance opportunities for young people through collaborations with other creative organisations across South Yorkshire
