Sarah Jane Palmer
Sarah Jane Palmer Is a multi-disciplinary artist with a passion for pattern, maths, animation and visual illusions with a BA in Fine Art, Painting and Printmaking and a Masters Degree (with distinction) in Fine Art.
Sarah has training in Philosophy for Children (Level 1), theatrical mask making at the Commedia dell’Arte school in Italy, has basic training in Non Violent Communication and is an expert in Child-led learning inspired by The Reggio Emilia Approach following training at the Loris Malaguzzi Centre in Italy.
As well as having a professional career as an artist she has also dedicated her time to facilitating creative projects, mostly with disadvantaged children and adults for over 15 years.
Sarah has experience working with all ages, both children, adults and the elderly. She has delivered a wide range of different creative activities including projects funded by The Arts Council England with cross-curricular themes such as art/maths links, outdoor learning, theatrical mask making, literacy and science, Philosophy for Children, story telling, installation art in schools and sculpture.
Sarah worked as specialist-visiting lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University delivering child-led learning training session to students. She currently works freelance for The Yorkshire Sculpture Park and has delivered many projects and CPD training sessions, working with whole school staff, pupils, minority groups and disadvantaged groups with various charity organisation, Martin House Children’s Hospice, Museums Sheffield, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Endevour and the Sheffield Youth Justice Service and The University of Sheffield.
