Nicola Beazley

I am an award winning multi-instrumental, researcher and educator, specialising in folk music and traditions of the U.K. I play the violin, cello, piano and flute, and I teach in a wide variety of settings, both in Sheffield and around the country. I regularly perform in various guises around the U.K, America and Canada and I lead lots of different workshops for a wide range of participants at some of the top folk festivals in England.

In Sheffield, I teach, both privately and in schools throughout Sheffield, delivering one-to-one and group lessons to all ages and abilities, from 5+, on the violin, cello, piano and flute.

I am the founder and Musical Director of the Folk Factory. The Folk Factory are the four groups dedicated to folk music education in Sheffield, created four years ago and always rapidly expanding. They consist of Juniors, Youth and Adults, taking place weekly in Dungworth Village Hall, and Carfield Folk Factory, run as a lunchtime club in Carfield Primary School. In these groups we learn folk tunes and songs, usually by ear, and we arrange and write our own music. We have performed at several festivals and are regulars at the National Music For Youth Festival. We often have guest workshops from other professional folk musicians and dancers, and can be spotted playing throughout Sheffield. I also offer Bronze and Silver Arts Award as part of the Folk Factory.
