Gillian Brent

I am a sculptor working with a variety of materials. I have a studio at Yorkshire Artspace in Sheffield. I exhibit in galleries and other venues around Britain. I have been working with schools and communities as an artist since 1997. I also work with contemporary art galleries and museums, offering workshops and projects for people of all ages and abilities, based around their exhibitions and collections.

I offer projects that give participants experience of making small and large-scale artworks in 3D to creatively interrogate art, history, environment and science topics and their local area, developing practical, problem solving and communication skills as well as observation and critical thinking. Key aspects of my practice working with schools and young people are building confidence and independence, engagement and embedding learning through practical and creative activities, using and transforming spaces in alternative ways.
