Invent our Future

Suitable for:6 to 10, 11 to 16

Brightbox Makerspace invites you to invent our future.

Invent our future home

Each year the population increases. We need more homes. What do you think the future home looks like?

Ideas

Can you list all your ideas for what your future home needs?

What might it look like?

How will it function?

Here is an example of a 'living home' from the BBC article 'how incredible living homes could save the climate,' we hope it may inspire your inventions!

Draw

Pick 1 or 2 of your ideas and draw them.

Build and share!

Use materials from around your house to build the first version of one of your future home ideas.

Invent our future clothes

Each year we send £140 billion worth of clothes to landfill. Can you help us invent the future of clothing?

Ideas

Can you list all your ideas for our future clothing?

This image was taken from the BBC article 'What will fashion be like 20 years from now?'.

Draw

Pick 1 or 2 of your ideas and draw them.

Build and share!

Use materials from around your house to build the first version of one of your future clothing ideas.

You could experiment with used bottles, toilet roll tubes, cereal boxes and other items that would otherwise be recycled for the building of your future home.

You could recreate your future clothing ideas with paper and card, or why not ask if there are any disused pieces of clothing that you may experiment with. Make sure you ask permission first!
